Myth or Fact: Coal industry is a major employer

Is the coal industry a major job employer in America?

FACT: The coal industry employed approximately 51,000 people in 2018. In 2013, it was around 80,000.

That is A LOT LESS than the 300,000 fitness trainers and instructors in America. Less than the 146,000 road workers that keep America’s highways’ running.

What’s the fastest growing job in the United States? Solar photovoltaic installers and wind turbine service technicians according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Solar Foundation estimates there are 240,000 solar jobs alone.

But America is behind the rest of the world. Here is a global comparison.
