Myth or Fact: Global energy use is leveling out

Is global energy use leveling out?

MYTH. As prosperity increases across the globe, so is the thirst for energy. We want prosperity for all. But, unless we take bold steps to greatly increase our share of clean energy: solar, wind, nuclear, and hydroelectric, fossil-fuel energy use will continue to rise.

Both EIA and IEA project an over 25% increase in world energy use by 2040. The global energy consumption rate has increased by 2.2% in 2018 up from 1.2% from the previous year. US energy consumption rate is at an all time high according to Lawrence Livermore Labs.

Fossil fuel use will increase with natural gas overtaking coal. It is no joke. We’re using more fossil fuels than ever before.
