FACT: Electric vehicles emit less CO2 than standard gas powered cars over their life-cycle, even on a dirty grid.
In Czech Republic, where the national electrical grid is 48% coal - EVs emit 25% less CO2 than combustion engines. Even in Poland, where the grid is powered 84% coal - EVs still emits less CO2 than combustion engines.
When converting to energy:
EVs convert 59-62% of energy from grid to power. Combustion engines only convert 17-21% of energy from gasoline to power.
Electric motors are more efficient than combustion engines. As power grids use more renewable energy, EVs get cleaner.
